Transforming Blood Cancer Treatments Through Research
Since 1973, the Australian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG) has been leading the way in pioneering better treatments for blood cancers through our clinical trial research. As the only not-for-profit collaborative blood cancer research group, we run investigator-led clinical trials focused solely on leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. ALLG brings together a powerful network of over 1,400 world-leading haematologists, scientists and researchers. Together we are tackling some of the toughest challenges in the treatment of blood cancers – working to improve treatments, survival rates and quality of life.
Leading the Way in Clinical Trials
ALLG’s strength lies in our independence and dedication to clinical research driven by frontline haematologists. Our members, based in hospitals around Australia and New Zealand, care for blood cancer patients every day. They see firsthand the urgent need for better treatments with fewer side effects that increase survival rates. Their insights and passion lead to the design and conduct of trials that explore new, more effective therapies with the aim for cure.
We are proud to have delivered over 180 clinical trials since 1973, providing access to cutting-edge treatments for more than 15,000 patients across Australia and New Zealand. ALLG trials shape the treatments of tomorrow by building on previous knowledge to generate new evidence for change.
Turning Breakthrough Science into Real-World Treatments
ALLG clinical trials are vital to bridge the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and real-world clinical outcomes. We translate cutting-edge science into tangible treatment options – improving survival, reducing toxicity, and enhancing quality of life for patients. Out impactful trials include BM12 CAST, which provided life-saving treatment to Stephanie through her stem cell transplant and our AMLM26 INTERCEPT trial, providing access to new treatments for aggressive Acute Myeloid Leukemia that prolonged Ania’s life from her original 4 week survival prognosis to over 17 months.
By partnering with local and international leaders in blood cancer research, we ensure our work is globally relevant and impactful and optimised to change clinical practice.
Research that Changes Practice
Every trial ALLG delivers is guided by our values of excellence, integrity, collaboration, with a focus on incorporating patient experience at the centre of our research. The evidence we generate through our clinical trials has shifted the dial on standard practice globally and contributed to newer and better treatment options for people with blood cancer across Australia and New Zealand.
