Join Team ALLG, get fit & fundraise for cancer research to bring hope to 20,000 Australians diagnosed with a blood cancer every year
How Fundraising for Team ALLG Works
Put the FUN back into fundraising and run, cycle or swim for blood cancer research by joining Team ALLG! Team ALLG brings together people with varying interests and fitness levels for one purpose – to support critical blood cancer research for better treatments that bring hope to the 20,000 Australians diagnosed with a blood cancer every year.
Come be a part of Team ALLG by joining an existing event like Run Melbourne or City 2 Surf or get together with workmates or friends to create your own sponsored challenge. Not only will you be enjoying the great outdoors and doing something fun, you will also raise funds to power ALLG’s blood cancer research at the same time!
But why limit yourself? Create your own event or challenge and raise funds while training.
Reach out to us at fundraising@allg.org.au and we will help you get started – we can chat through your ideas or provide fundraising tips.

Clara’s Story
My mum was recently diagnosed with leukaemia and watching her deal with her diagnosis made me feel a little helpless as there wasn’t much I could do. It was especially hard as both my dad and stepdad died of cancer (lung cancer for my dad, and kidney for my stepdad).
I felt that doing something physical and tangible would help not only me, but others as well. It helped me deal with the emotional turmoil, served as a distraction, and helped me feel like I was part of a cause that was bigger than me. As soon as I found out about Run Melbourne, I decided to take part and raise funds for blood cancer research and ALLG.
I stuck to my normal training routine – running twice a week and weightlifting at the gym (also a coping mechanism for my frustrations) so I was also very impressed with my time. I have never EVER run that fast in my life, and I attribute it to all the emotions swirling around in me.
Before, during, and after the race, I felt pretty emotional. It was a mix of nerves, excitement, and hope. I was also determined to do my best because of all the people who supported me with donations – I felt compelled to make sure I did them justice as well.
I hope my fundraising goes towards setting up more clinical trials, so more people have access to them and greater treatment options become available for all those affected by blood cancers.
I wanted to give myself hope and a way to work through my emotions. Taking part in this challenge to raise funds for an organisation whose work I know will positively impact blood cancer research was my way of doing just that.
I may only be one person but I am good at running so I figured I might as well put it to good use.
Through her passion and determination, Clara raised over $2000 towards blood cancer research.

Lauren’s Story
When I signed up for the Sydney Marathon this year, I knew I wanted to support ALLG and their commitment to clinical research. My incredible mum was diagnosed with a rare form of Lymphatic cancer in 2019, so I understand the importance of research and clinical trials!
I had participated in the marathon the previous year as well since running is my way of coping with what my family was going through, and it gave me hours of thinking and processing time. I felt stronger and more ready to take on the challenge this year, as my mum was doing so much better. I actually enjoyed my training and fundraising as well!
I wanted to raise as much as I could so even though it can be scary to put yourself out there, I kept plugging my cause on my social media. I was amazed and humbled at how supportive everyone was – especially in this economic climate!
The one thing that definitely helped me was that I shared the link to my page on my socials more than once; you’ll see that people don’t mind and are so willing to support you- even if it’s in a very small way. It all counts!
If I can empower those going through the emotional and physical rigmarole of cancer by supporting the ALLG to better enable research and new and more effective treatment plans – I know I will have done my bit for a cause very close to my heart.
Through her hard work and persistence, Lauren raised over $2600 for the ALLG!
